Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data TravelPayLab ("we", "us", "the site") handles when you visit travelpaylab.com, and what our advertising partners may do. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
1. The short version
- We do not ask you for personal information and we have no account system, newsletter or lead form.
- Everything you type into the pay calculator stays in your browser. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
- We do not set our own cookies and we do not run analytics software.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, and our advertising partner (Google) may set cookies to serve and measure ads. Those are the only two places data is handled.
- We do not sell personal information.
2. Who is responsible
TravelPayLab is an independent publisher and the operator of this website. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@travelpaylab.com with "privacy request" in the subject line.
3. Information you give us
None, unless you email us. If you send an email, or use the contact page — which opens your own email client rather than submitting anything to this site — we receive whatever you choose to write, including your email address. We use it only to reply and to fix whatever you have reported, and we do not add you to any list.
4. The pay calculator
The calculator is client-side JavaScript. Your hourly rate, stipends, state, filing status and every other input are processed by your own browser and are never sent to a server. We cannot see them, and no record of them exists anywhere but on your device.
If you use the "copy link to these numbers" button, your inputs are encoded into a URL so you can save or share the scenario. That link is created locally in your browser. Be aware that if you send that link to someone else, they can see the figures in it — that is the point of the feature, but it is worth knowing before you paste it into a group chat.
5. Information collected automatically
Hosting logs
The site is served by a third-party hosting and content delivery provider. Like all web servers, it processes technical information necessary to deliver pages and to protect the service from abuse — typically your IP address, browser type and version, the page requested, referring page and timestamp. This processing is carried out by the provider under its own privacy terms; we do not use these logs to build profiles of visitors and we do not combine them with anything else.
Advertising
This site is supported by display advertising served by Google, including Google AdSense. The following applies to that advertising:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at optout.aboutads.info, optout.networkadvertising.org, or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies. Information about how Google handles data in its advertising products is at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
6. Analytics
At the date of this policy the site runs no analytics or tracking software of its own. If that changes we will update this policy and state which service is in use before it is deployed.
7. Legal bases for processing (UK/EU visitors)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: legitimate interests for the technical processing needed to deliver and secure the website, and to respond to correspondence you initiate; and consent for non-essential advertising and measurement cookies. Where consent is required, it is collected through a consent management interface before non-essential cookies are set, and you may withdraw it at any time through that interface or your browser settings.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability, subject to the applicable exceptions. Because we hold almost no personal data, in practice most requests concern email correspondence. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
8. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell personal information for money. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, the use of advertising cookies to serve personalised ads may constitute "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of such sharing.
To opt out, use the Google Ads Settings link above, use the industry opt-out tools listed above, or enable a Global Privacy Control signal in a supporting browser. To make any other request, email hello@travelpaylab.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. Children
This site is intended for working adults in the healthcare professions. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Data retention
We retain email correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the matter raised and to keep a record of corrections made to the site, and then delete it. Hosting logs are retained by the hosting provider according to its own retention schedule. Advertising cookie data is retained by the relevant advertising vendor under its own policies.
11. International transfers
This site is delivered through a global content delivery network and its advertising partners operate internationally. Data described in this policy may therefore be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, under the safeguards those providers maintain.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because we do not collect or store personal data ourselves, there is no database of visitor information to breach — a design choice, not an accident.
13. Links to other sites
We link extensively to the IRS, GSA, BLS, state revenue departments, professional associations and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their content or their data practices.
14. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of the page will change and the substance of the change will be described here. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
